Smeg, the well-known Italian-based manufacturer of major and small domestic appliances, acknowledges the announcement that Applico Limited and its related companies, Kitchen Things NZ Limited, Baumatic Appliances Limited, Appliance Works (2015) Limited and Jones Family Investments Limited have been placed into receivership and voluntary administration.Having been a supplier of appliances to Applico Limited since 1986 in New Zealand, Smeg remains committed to honouring manufacturer warranties given by Smeg on major and small appliances purchased in New Zealand.
These warranties will remain valid with support from Smeg S.p.A., the mother company based in Italy.
Smeg Australia Head of Marketing and Product, Nick Elgin, says “Smeg wishes to reassure customers that all manufacturer warranties given by Smeg on Smeg major and small appliances purchased in New Zealand remain valid and will continue to be serviced, with initial warranty support provided by our Australian subsidiary.”
In due course, Smeg S.p.A intends to commence operations, including sales and service, in the New Zealand market as already done in more than 20 countries around the world. More details regarding these operations will be provided and communicated via smeg.co.nz.

Smeg S.p.A assures customers that all manufacturer warranties given by Smeg on Smeg Small and Major Appliances purchased in New Zealand remain valid and will continue to be serviced. For replacement products, once Smeg New Zealand commences operations with inventory on hand, access to after-sales (replacement) support for small appliances can commence.
In due course, Smeg S.p.A intends to commence operations, including sales and service, in the New Zealand market. More details regarding these operations will be provided and communicated via smeg.co.nz.
At this stage, we don’t have a confirmed timeframe for when local Smeg operations will be fully established in New Zealand. The process is already underway, and we are committed to keeping customers and partners updated as things progress.

Warranty support for product issues covered under the manufacturer’s warranty given by Smeg is available for Smeg products that have been delivered by Kitchen Things/Applico to the customer.
For repairable products, i.e Major Appliances, manufacturer’s warranty support will be provided in accordance with the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty given by Smeg. For replacement products, such as Small Appliances, once Smeg New Zealand commences operations with inventory on hand, access to after-sales (replacement) support can commence.

Smeg Major and Small Domestic Appliances are warranted for 24 months from date of purchase. The full period will continue to be serviced by Smeg either from Australia or New Zealand.
We ask our customers for patience while we develop new procedures to support the New Zealand market.
For servicing under manufacturer’s warranty provided by Smeg, Smeg will assume the costs for both parts and labour in New Zealand. No additional costs will be incurred by the customer for shipping or freight of parts from Australia.
The manufacturer’s warranty provided by Smeg applies to all Smeg appliances purchased from an authorised Smeg retailer in New Zealand.
