We’ve launched the new SJF01 Slow Juicer as an extension of our growing range of 50’s style appliances. Crafted to produce amazing cold-pressed juices, Smeg hopes it will encourage healthy and happy lifestyles for those who get their hands on one.

Awareness of healthy eating and living is really gaining momentum at the moment, with people wanting to make the adjustment to a healthier and more active lifestyle. The Slow Food movement, which originated in Italy in 1986 to promote fresh food, is in full swing and the SJF01 allows everyone to get the most out of the fresh fruits and vegetables they have. It uses state-of-the-art technology to retain vital vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, phytonutrients and enzymes by pressing the ingredients slowly against a sieve, extracting juices with total precision. There is also no need to remove nutrient-rich skin in a lot of cases, ensuring you get as much out as you put in. You’ll be filling the large 500ml chamber in no time.

A special feature of the SJF01 is a juice density regulation lever and “reverse” function that allows you to customise the amount of fibrous pulp in the juice. Allowing more pulp will thicken the juice, while less will thin the liquid; it’s all down to personal taste. Any unrequired pulp finds its way out via a second funnel on the appliance. The dry pulp is not a waste product and could be used to thicken soup, baked into cakes or used in skincare recipes, just to name a few. The possibilities are endless.

The slow juicer is a much gentler approach to juicing with a helical structure screwing system that reproduces the action of a manual squeeze, just with more pressure. This means it can extract pure juice from both fine and hard fruits, vegetables and leafy greens such as kale and spinach. Smeg’s exclusive Slow Squeezing Technology(TM) doesn’t have metal blades and preserves both nature’s taste and the ingredients’ original nutrients. But don’t be fooled, slow juicing isn’t a slow process. Squeezing happens at 43 RPM and a 150W motor means it produces juice extremely efficiently.

It comes without saying that it looks as good as the juice it creates tastes. The SJF01 maintains Smeg’s signature retro aesthetic and style, and is available in cream, black, red, and pastel blue colourways. It’s also built with high quality, easy clean materials such as Tritan(TM) and Ultem(TM) and designed for safe and convenient results. It joins Smeg’s iconic SDA range that includes kettles, blenders, triple award-winning stand mixers, and toasters which received a Which? Best Buy.

Available now, the juicer is more than just amazing juice, it’s also a great tool for prepping sorbets, soy milk, ice-cream and can extract high doses of vitamins from grains, roots and pine needles. It helpfully comes with a recipe book compiled by Smeg’s in-house experts featuring 12 delicious juice recipes and recommendations.
