Sustainable packaging

Responsible packaging

Smeg is committed to making packaging increasingly sustainable so that not only do products meet high quality standards, but packaging is also in line with corporate values.

Biodegradable Viscose

Since 2022, where possible, we have started to replace plastic elements inside packaging (e.g. bags, polystyrene shells, etc.) with more sustainable alternative materials, whilst still maintaining the ability to protect the product during the various stages of transport.
Traditional plastic bags have been replaced with a viscose alternative: a biodegradable, plant-based material derived from wood pulp that offers an eco-friendly alternative.

Reduction of waste

With Tritan™ Renew, plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill is recovered and reused, in favour of the development of a sustainable, circular economy and the reduction of the use of fossil resources.

High resistance and durability

Tritan™ Renew is a virtually unbreakable material, designed to last over time.

Food safe

Free of BPA, BPS and BPF, it is an ideal material for food use.

Crystalline transparency

Tritan™ Renew has a glass-like appearance and resists odours and flavours.

Certification

Smeg products made with Tritan™ Renew contain at least 50% certified recycled material*, according to the ISCC Plus standard.
This international certification guarantees the traceability of materials and compliance with rigorous environmental criteria throughout the production process.
*The recycled content is certified according to the ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) mass balance system.
