Range FAQ

SMEG ranges must always be positioned completely-flat (use a level when adjusting the feet).  A gap of at least two feet must also be left between the cooktop and the bottom of a hood or suspended wall unit, for instance, in order to guarantee completely-safe operation.

SMEG ranges feature a special cooling system which keeps the front and sides of the range cool, meaning you can safely install them between kitchen cabinetry.

The top surface of the cooktop must be at the same height as the adjacent kitchentop.

Never clean the appliance using abrasive cloths or aggressive detergents such as bleach, ammonia or alcohol, as this could leave permanent marks on the surface.  Use only soft, clean cloths, and non-abrasive cleaning fluids, specifically meant for the surface that you are cleaning, like stainless steel cleaning fluid.  As a rule of thumb, the more you clean, the longer the steel will stay shiny.  Steel will turn black as a result of oxidation, the use of excessively-large pots or pans, or the cast iron griddle.

The cast iron pan stands must always be hand washed using a neutral detergent.  Lemon juice, chlorine, bleach, and other abrasives should not be used.  Consequently, avoid washing them in the dishwasher, as they could lose their shine.  To get rid of stubborn, dried-on dirt, use a brass bristle barbeque brush, and then rinse them clean.

The main advantage of induction cooktops can be seen in the cooking times.  Faster than traditional gas cooking, the induction cooking technique is hugely-beneficial when it comes to boiling water, or heating oil in preparation for frying, for instance.  Other benefits include the easy-clean flat glass surface, digital touch controls for maximum-safety, and the various customisable cooking zone options.  Finally, SMEG induction cooktops feature an ECO-logic mode which limits their power consumption to 2.8 kW.  This allows you to use multiple appliances at the same time without any hassle.

If your SMEG range oven does not have an EverClean enamel lining on the inside, or the specific Pyrolytic or Vapor Clean Cleaning Programs, then it should be cleaned using only soft, clean cloths, and non-abrasive cleaning fluids, specifically meant for the surface that you are cleaning.  Never clean the appliance using abrasive cloths or aggressive detergents such as bleach, ammonia or alcohol, as this could leave permanent marks on the surface.

SMEG electric ovens are fitted with safety devices which lower the door temperature when the oven is on.  Excellent cavity insulation, the forced-ventilation and tangential cooling system, and heat-reflective glass ensure that the outer door surface stays cool.

The oven cooling fan will continue to operate for around 20 minutes after the appliance has been switched off to enable the oven to cool down more-quickly.

Only specific range models come with a rotisserie kit.

A feature of various SMEG range ovens, the pizza stone can be easily-cleaned using vinegar, and a non-abrasive sponge before a final rinse.  A handy tip to keep your stone as-clean-as-possible is to always slip a sheet of greaseproof paper underneath your pizza or the food to be cooked.
