Cookers

Smeg cookers must always be positioned completely flat (use a spirit level when adjusting the feet). A gap of 65cm must also be left between the cooker top and a hood or suspended wall unit, for instance, in order to guarantee completely safe operation.

Smeg electric ovens are fitted with safety devices which lower the door temperature when the oven is on. Excellent cavity insulation, the forced ventilation and tangential cooling system and the heat reflective glass ensure that the outer door surface stays cool (known as COOL DOOR technology).

The oven cooling fan will continue to operate for around 20 minutes after the appliance has been switched off to enable the oven to cool down more quickly.

Only selected cooker models come with the kit.

A feature of various Smeg cooker ovens, the pizza stone can be easily cleaned using vinegar and a non-abrasive sponge before a final rinse. A handy tip to keep your stone as clean as possible is to always slip a sheet of greaseproof paper underneath your pizza or the food to be cooked.

The top surface of the cooker must be at the same height as the adjacent worktop.

We recommend using specific Smeg products for cleaning pan stands and burners, such as the PAIX-1 cleaning cream and kitchen towel. As a rule of thumb, the more you clean, the longer the steel will stay shiny. Steel will turn black as a result of oxidation or the use of excessively large pots or pans (diameter greater than 26cm) or the cast iron griddle.

The cast iron pan stands must always be hand washed using a neutral detergent (i.e. washing up liquid). Lemon juice, chlorine or bleach should not be used. Consequently, avoid washing them in the dishwasher as they could lose their shine. To get rid of stubborn dried-on dirt, use a brass bristle bbq brush and then rinse clean.

We recommend using special Smeg cleaning products, such as the XSPLEND-2 detergent spray and the PAMI-1 microfibre cloth to get rid of everyday marks and stains.

The main advantage of induction hobs can be seen in the cooking times. Faster than traditional gas cooking, the induction cooking technique is hugely beneficial when it comes to boiling water or heating oil in preparation for frying, for instance.Other benefits include the easy clean flat glass surface, digital touch controls for maximum safety and the various customisable cooking zone options. Finally, Smeg induction hobs feature an ECO-logic mode which limits their power consumption to 2.8 kW. This allows you to use various appliances at the same time without any hassle.

Smeg gas-on-glass hobs, a feature of selected cooker models, use thick tempered glass. However, like all kinds of glass, it can break if subjected to heavy blows or exposed to very high temperatures.

If your Smeg cooker oven does not have an EVER CLEAN enamel lining on the inside or the specific Pyrolytic or Vapor Clean cleaning programmes, then it should be cleaned using special Smeg cleaning products such as the PULIFORNO spray (to be wiped on with a sponge) and the PAMI-1 microfibre cloth to dry the surface and leave it looking shiny.

Smeg has developed a range of cleaning products especially for ovens and hobs, such as PULIFORNO for removing fatty residue from the oven cavity, the XSPLEND-2 detergent spray for cleaning external stainless steel surfaces, PULICERAM for glass and the PAMI-1 microfibre cloth.

Smeg cookers feature a special cooling system which keeps the front and sides of the cooker cool, meaning you can safely install them between kitchen furniture.

Like all connected devices, your SmegConnect appliance has a unique number called MAC (Media Access Control) address, that uniquely identifies the device. This address is permanent and is assigned when the device is manufactured. An IP address also uniquely identifies a device on a given network, but is assigned by the Wi-Fi router and can change over time. MAC address filtering is normally disabled in the router's default settings, but it may be activated to restrict access to your Wi-Fi network only to a pre-defined list of MAC addresses, corresponding to those of your trusted devices. It is to be noted that MAC address filtering is however not a comprehensive security method, as your devices' MAC addresses can be copied and impersonated by a rogue device. To turn MAC address filtering on or off, or to add a device to the filter list, you need to access your Wi-Fi router configuration settings. For instructions on how to access your wireless router configuration settings, refer to your router documentation or to your Internet Service Provider.
