The best way to preserve the sheen of stainless steel is to take care not to let corrosive substances (bleach, ammonia, salt etc.) come into contact with it. If this does happen, immediately rinse the area in question with water and then wipe carefully with a dry cloth.

We recommend specific Smeg products for cleaning both brushed and polished stainless steel sinks, such as the PASTA-X cleaning cream and the PAMI-1 microfibre cleaning cloth, which is slightly dampened so as not to leave marks on the surface. As a rule of thumb, the more you clean, the longer the steel will stay shiny.

The sink pop-up is a device installed under kitchen sinks and operated via a frontal control knob - hence the "remote control" part. The strainer waste pops up automatically, allowing sink water to drain away without you having to get your hands wet.

The surface of micro scratch-resistant stainless steel sinks is etched with tiny grooves, similar to microscopic holes. The main benefit is that scratches or scores which are part and parcel of everyday use do not show up as much as in other sinks.

Before the installation of the sink, it is recommended to wash it with a common dish detergent and a soft sponge, to eliminate any production residues. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a microfibre cloth. 

It must always be drilled from the rear of the product towards the front in correspondence with the pre-holes already present, making sure care is taken. A drill with a diamond cup cutter that has a diameter of 35mm must be used.

All Smeg sinks are equipped with hook kits, drain kit (or drain kits in the case of sinks with multiple bowls), overflow and siphon. If one or more components are missing, you can contact our authorised service for assistance.

Do not use cleaning products containing alkaline substances and aggressive liquids (such as ammonia, caustic soda, disgorging) and do not remove dirt residues with scourers or abrasive sponges that could damage the surface.

Each sink has been tested according to current regulations allowing it to be suitable for contact with food.

These are caused by the release of small metal particles and can be eliminated by rubbing with a non-metallic and non-abrasive sponge in combination with commonly used cleaners, rinsing the surface and drying carefully using a microfibre cloth.

Generally, this type of problem is due to a thermal or mechanical shock. It is a state of stress of the material caused by repeated and sudden hot / cold thermal variations, which can cause cracking in extreme cases. In the event of cracks, unfortunately the only solution is a replacement and if damage has been caused, it will not be covered by the warranty.

These can be removed if action is taken immediately by using warm water and dishwashing detergent on a soft cloth. Then once removed, dry thoroughly with a microfibre cloth.
