THE GOOD DESIGN AWARDS 2019

At the Chicago Athenaeum, the winners of the prizes for the best design products conceived and created for the consumer were announced, on the occasion of the Good Design Awards 2019.

Selected by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors, Smeg and its products beat off competition from more than five hundred companies to win the coveted prize for excellence in design and innovation.

Specifically, the Smeg appliances that earned the company this prestigious award were: the 90x60cm Classic oventhe 60cm Dolce Stil Novo oven with the new display, the Portofino fridge and the hob Linea.
These ground-breaking products were commended for their refined aesthetic and extraordinary technological innovation in the field of home appliances.

These products were accompanied by: the MFF01 milk frother and the CGF01 coffee grinder, design by Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti (deepdesign).

The Good Design Awards is one of the most prestigious and internationally-recognised events of its kind, and is organised annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, founded in 1950 in Chicago by designers and world-renowned architects.

For more than 70 years, Smeg has worked tirelessly to combine aesthetics and technology, creating appliances that offer both style and functionality, establishing the brand as a pinnacle of excellence on the international scene. Smeg’s achievements have also been recognised by a number of leading awards, including - for the eighth consecutive time - the Good Design Awards.
