Start preparing the affogato al caffè (coffee affogato) by whipping the liquid cream. If you prefer, you can lightly sweeten it by adding a little icing sugar.

Put one or two scoops of cream-flavoured or vanilla ice cream in a tall glass cup.

Now add the coffee: you can either pour the espresso coffee directly into the same cup or serve it in a small ceramic pot and let everyone fill their own cup.

Top the cup by adding the whipped cream and drizzle with a little cocoa powder.
If you prefer, you can substitute the cocoa powder with a chocolate topping, or some melted dark chocolate.
